Not too sure if I am in the right place but I am looking for the 4th edition of this book. I did have one but have lost it to other hands. I bought the 5th edition but I think it is not up to the earlier standard, (too commercial). Had a look on Amazon etc but they do not seem to have the ealrier one. Any ideas?

Cheers

I can only offer 5th edition download version, so Ill consider myself out.

There is quite a bit more detailed information in the Gas Turbine Engineering Handbook 2nd Ed but as you are after colour pictures, you are probably better off with the RR book.

Cheers guys,

I have the 5th edition hard copy but I think the 4th, or come to that, the 3rd, is a better readers book, (if you are interested that way). The 5th is a little too much generalised in each chapter. I am trying to push a couple of young guys towards the career I have taken and I believe this book is the definitive one to read regarding the jet engine. I found the 4th and below presented the right amount and level for a prospective candidate to our trade. If you do not know the basics ie Proportional flow theory etc then the FADEC may be a bit comfusing, (call me old fashioned if you want), but that is my style of training.

PM sent with useful gen.

It comes to something that the only mails in my Airmech mailbox are infractions, I blame the parents.

Happy Xmas.

Sorry, i think thats even newer 5th edition. Although you may want to take their advice:

"Gas Turbines, by Claire Soares, or Aircraft Powerplants (Glencoe Series) as alternatives. Both these titles include the whole of the Rolls Royce - The Jet Engine, 4th Edition, verbatim, including all diagrams, plus much more additional valuable content"

I guess that Taz might be looking for the free version, giving that it is that time of year.

I am not tooking for anything free, (although that was a very nice thought), just seeing if I can get hold of the 4th edition, retail or otherwise.

Many thanks for your PM 400, quite a link.

Merry Christmas

I'd love to give all this stuff away FOC, but there are one or two out there that insist on roylaties.

Thanks Billy. We really appreciate your white collar approach around here.
