The sentence was suspended for two years.

His counsel told the court that Washington was currently enrolled in a rehab program and United Airlines "wish to retain his services".
Lucky for him to receive such support....

Does not seem so long ago when flight crews pi**ed up every night on lay overs and managed to fly the next day. Military as well using O2 before taking off because of the previous nights mess entertainment.

I remember a chubby Nigerian F/O at Das Air out on the beers with us one night in Entebbe..He was very very drunk, fell off a chair knocking a bowl of peanuts flying in the process. He was taking good doses of O2 from his mask <8 hours later in one of our DC10s. It was quite scary watching him work slowly thru the preflight checklist, attempting to set up the INUs etc.. He wasn't PF from what I recall although the skipper & F/E knew exactly what this bloke had been up to but still..

PF as in Pilot Flying? Was there a spare F/E at hand? If not, the Captain should've been more assertive, in the interest of safety.
