Football fans pay their money and attend matches, usually to have a fun time.

This weekend was no different, apart from the sorry scenes at West Ham.

Out in Cardiff in the Championship, visiting Birmingham City were having their typical day, don't score until the opposition have scored one or two. Cardiff scored three before Birmingham woke up and pulled two goals back. Cardiff players became jittery. Cardiff fans boosted themselves by singing: "You are going down". Birmingham are unfortunately in the Drop Zone, but not yet beyond redemption.

Over at West Brom in the West Midlands, the home team went one up against Leicester. Leicester came storming back and won 4-1. As disgruntled Baggies fans started trooping out of the stadium before the final whistle, the away fans from Leicester wished them: Cheerio. West Brom are also in the Drop Zone of the EPL and may not survive.

Sunday at the Emirates, Watford were back in town, hoping to do a double over the Gunners. Last October, Watford scored an injury time winner at home against the Gunners. Captain Deeney made some funny remarks about certain Arsenal players in post-match interviews. This time, Arsenal went 2-0 up before 60mins. Watford later got a penalty kick awarded. Deeney stepped up to take it.

Deeney, who had scored three times in his past four appearances, had a day to forget as his penalty was too close to Cech in the middle of the goal, and the Czech saved it, much to the delight of the Arsenal fans who started singing: "Deeney, Deeney, what is the score"?

    BBC News, 12 March 2018:
    Southampton sack manager Mauricio Pellegrino.
The team is just one point and one place above the Premier League relegation zone with eight games left this season.

The Saints have won just one of their past 17 league matches and lost 3-0 at Newcastle United on Saturday.

Pellegrino, 46, was appointed in June as the successor to Claude Puel.

Saints hope to have a new manager in place before facing Wigan on Sunday for a place in the FA Cup semi-finals.

They are in their sixth successive season in the Premier League and have not finished lower than 14th in any of the previous five.
