Don't mention the tents, mention motorhomes instead.

All those in BA who have been briefed must be aware of how badly some of our colleagues are being treated, being made to reapply for jobs with poorer pay and conditions. 'Oh well it's not us we're alright' seems to be the theme. Perhaps people should remember the following quotation before being so blase.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

    Chickens coming home to roost.

Perhaps I should have sympathy but unfortunately, some of those managers didn't give a flying f*&^ about the staff they were trampling on, changing working conditions altering NI and pension benefits etc. Making hundreds of people redundant and then holding parties and having a good old laugh about it.

    No. I have no sympathy.

Any ideas on what is happening to the guys from the paint bay? From what I've heard they going to be made redundant within a new company so BA wont pay them redundancy, is this true? Might just be a rumour, but disgusting if true.
Doesnt sound like the union/engineers are doing much to support them.

Hugh, I tend to agree with you with regards to the managers, it was more the A scales staff like the FPAs who were in my mind. Many of them have done a good job over many years and are now being crapped on. Lower pay, less leave and no union, or worse still no job is pretty shabby. I am in no doubt this process will continue elsewhere.

The union have been tasked with finding jobs for some of the paint bay guys and maybe asking some mechs to go part time to make room in some areas as the paint bay guys are not engineers . How much effort will be made by the union is any bodies guess .After hearing some say they felt sorry for the managers getting the boot I wouldn't hold my breath for paint bay guys or am I wrong .

I also heard the rumor about the paint bay guys being made redundant by the new employer, but I have no idea about the veracity of it. This sort of thing does happen though, it happened to the brother of a good friend when they closed his coal mine in Derbyshire. They were encouraged to sign up to the new company to keep their jobs and a few months later wham.

Are "managers" to reapply for their positions?
