Anyway, how do I turn off the "thread replied to " function please.

You need to go to 'User CP' then 'Options. Scroll down to 'Default Thread Subscription Mode' and alter the dropdown menu to whatever you want.
Then go to 'List subscriptions' and send all subscriptions to delete.
Hope I've got it correct. It seemed to work OK for me.
