Default All electric B787

Good article in Flight about the electrics on the B787.

Each engine will have 2 generators of 250 KVA each and the APU will have another 2 generators of 225 KVA each.

All the actuators, including the landing gear, will be electric.

Th reasoning is that with electric, you only gnerate the power you need and less pneumatic power required from engines.

The B1s are going to love this aircraft.

Oops, forgot electrics is now B1!

No dents, no corrosion, no pulled rivets.......

But..... how do you repair it on line mainteneance when someone decides it's better with a hole in it?

There will still be work for the 'knuckle draggers' as there are plans for metal doubler repairs to composite structures. Probably coach-bolts and wing nuts!!
